Google DevFest are fun events. They are a great way to meet interesting people - students, hobbyists and professionals, especially those in the field of IT, computers, and engineering. Google DevFest also gives you a peek on the trends and new products Google is working on.

Innovuze Solutions has partnered with the Cagayan de Oro chapter of the Google Developers Group to host this year’s DevFest at the Rodelsa Hall at Liceo de Cagayan University.

This year, the theme was focused on Responsible AI and Flutter. This attracted students and professionals from all around Northern Mindanao. We had people from Iligan City, Malaybalay City and even some as far as Butuan City.

The event had international speakers and experts. One workshop I joined was, Suesi Tran from Vietnam via Australia. She talked about using Flutter to make a mobile app and connecting it to Google’s Firebase service to create a chatbot with generative AI.

The other talk I joined was one with Weiyuan Liu. He talked about his experience working in Singapore as a cloud engineer and how you can use Google’s Vertex AI to do interesting search experiences.

The other talks, which I didn’t get to join were:

• Ralph Regalado. He talked about directly interacting with the Gemini API using Python.

• Cleo Credo. She talked about Multimodal AI with Firebase using Gemini and Genkit.

You always learn something new or meet interesting people using a DevFest even though it's the 12th time. Innovuze Solutions will continue to support these grassroots events. They foster innovation, generate excitement for students looking to break into the industry and see what technologies Google is cooking.
