Participants from USTP and speakers from Innovuze Solutions at the Data Science seminar

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - A talk and hands-on activity on Data Science and Machine Learning was held last June 14, 2019 at the 4th Floor, LRC Building of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) Cagayan de Oro campus. The speakers for the said activity were Mr. Jay L. Ginete and Mr. Aryan Lowell C. Limjap of Innovuze Solutions, Inc. The event was participated by Computer Engineering students and instructors.

The speakers were invited by Engr. Bronson Mabulay, head of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology (CET) of USTP. Jay and Aryan are also part of PyTsada, the local Python Programming community here in the city.

A good portion of the talk included a computer hands-on activity. It showed core Data Science techniques like gathering and cleaning data, developing the data model and finding insight in the data using statistical correlation.

Data Science and Machine Learning are among the hottest areas in technology. Industries related to these fields now have a growing demand for workers, programmers and engineers. Hopefully, this event has opened the participants’ awareness into these areas and will just be a start of a deeper learning moving forward.
